A TASTE OF A THROBBING HEART
I
For her I've yearned, hurt, and bled,
In longing countless tears I've shed.
Lady of the Night has blessed me as before,
Her image conjured in my head once more.
To adore her whole till dawn's dreadful light,
She'll leave me alone to curse the sun's sight,
To linger on the memory of snow-pale skin,
Coarse voice, stupefied eyes, stubby chin...
We shall love again as if it were true,
Don't try to leave, I ...beg of you.
The first act ends and the curtain falls,
Behind the velvet silk a meek voice calls:
"Pay him no heed; he owns you not.
Come now with me and leave him to rot."
II
You foul creature, treacherous whore,
An idolized apparition, nothing more.
You've tainted my Eden with beastly lust,
Gutted my mind and betrayed my trust.
Yet my heart bleeds but for you and me,
Love as I may, you hurt me, run, flee.
You strive to escape, aware it's in vain,
These are my own dreams; I alone reign.
Then how could it be that I got betrayed
By my own creation in a world I had made?
Abandoned by denial and running out of doubt,
At last the bitter romantic cries out:
"I was a fool to ever adjudge you as mine.
If you were attainable, you wouldn't be divine."
III
Deluded by nightmares, I courted a wraith
Who resembled my goddess, in whom I had faith.
I vow myself still in the spectre's embrace,
That Medusa's eyes shan't see another face.
My goddess you'll stay, but there's a price:
Your heart I can't tame; your body will suffice.
I'll pluck your limbs, I'll eat your heart,
You'll beg for my love while I tear you apart.
Where once were your eyes, my tongue shall run deep,
This time no dreams; I won't be asleep...
